Grigory Trubnikov’s congratulations on 70th JINR anniversary

70th JINR anniversary, 26 March 2026

Dear friends, dear colleagues!

On 26 March 2026, we celebrate a significant milestone – our Institute’s anniversary. A courageous unifying idea was sparked seventy years ago, leading to the creation of our shared home on the Volga and the recognition of Dubna as a hub for scientists from all over the world.

On this day, we deeply revere the JINR founding fathers and cordially thank our veterans. They were the ones to lay the foundations of Dubna’s outstanding scientific school and foster the spirit of dedication to truth – a cherished legacy passed down from one generation to another.

Today, our Institute is a living and powerful intellectual organism, with its heart beating in unison with the work of our flagship facilities. The main anniversary gift was the long-awaited launch of the NICA Collider. In February 2026, the first counter-rotating beams of xenon nuclei circulated its rings. Flerov Laboratory researchers are preparing for great scientific achievements as well. A historic experiment on the synthesis of element 119 of Mendeleev’s Periodic Table will start in May. Another one of our megascience facilities, the Baikal-GVD Neutrino Telescope, is steadily developing and approaching an effective volume of 1 km3.

Behind each of these achievements – each gigaelectronvolt, synthesised isotope, and detected neutrino – are people. The intelligence, professionalism, and talent of our multinational team is JINR’s key driving force. I am profoundly grateful to the scientists and engineers as well as technical and administrative specialists for their contribution to our projects’ success, daily work, and dedication to the common cause.

I would like to express my special appreciation of our colleagues representing the Member States, Associate Members, and Partner States for their continued support of the Institute and the international cooperation development. In a rapidly changing world, you once again demonstrate that science knows no borders. JINR remains a reliable platform for open scientific dialogue, uniting researchers from different countries in the spirit of creation and global progress.

I wish you good health, well-being, inspiration, new ideas, and great accomplishments. May your research teams and families be graced with warmth, mutual understanding, and confidence in what lies ahead. May the jubilee year bring us new discoveries, achievements to be proud of, and evidences that science really does bring nations together.

Happy anniversary, dear friends, dear Institute!
